Internet High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the closing game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best players around the world. While betting on web poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amount. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
