Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve final table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors around the world. While playing net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has no reason to settle at the table with the min buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players anywhere in the world could be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash rounds?
