NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover everything he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative feedback from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He began playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
