NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn whatever he could about the game. He would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning experience and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
