NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
