Omaha Hi-Low: Basic Outline

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is frequently viewed as one of the most difficult but popular poker games. It is a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites play from all levels of players. This is the main reason why a once invisible variation, has expanded in acceptance so amazingly.
Omaha hi/low begins like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are handed out to each player. A sequence of wagering follows in which players can bet, check, or fold. Three cards are dealt out, this is called the flop. A further round of wagering ensues. After all the gamblers have in turn called or folded, a further card is revealed on the turn. a further round of betting follows and then the river card is flipped. The gamblers must attempt to make the strongest high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is the point where a number of entrants can get flustered. Contrasted to Holdem, where the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi/lo the player must use exactly 3 cards on the board, and precisely two hole cards. No more, no less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot might be won: the "higher hand" or the "lower hand."
A high hand is just how it sounds. It is the best possible hand out of every player’s, it doesn’t matter if it is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the same notion in nearly every poker game.
A lower hand is more difficult, but really free’s up the play. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that could be made, with the lowest value being A-2-3-4-5. Seeing as straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The lower hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and below. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there’s no low hand available, the high hand takes the whole pot.
While it seems complex at first, following a couple of rounds you will be agile enough to pick up on the base nuances of the game simply enough.
