No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
