His papa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative comments from others kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet.
