[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
