No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup everything he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
