NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
